1303-1307 / Transumancia / Sheep transhumance / Seia // Portugal

Walking and drawing with the sheep at Seia. Here, every year the sheep are  transported to higher lands. I was invited, along other sketchers, to draw this path.

Climbing, early in the morning. Impossible not to draw the tractor, finally some mechanic, not organic element! The shadow/light contrasts formed this great pattern!

First stop to eat and drink. Cheese, ham, sausage and jam where, off course, included! One of the disadvantages of sketching is that you eat less …

The climb continues, shirts pastors forced to use watercolors.  Not easy, to use pens, brushes, water, … while walking

The sheep (“those who rule”) were resting. The sketchers did the same. Here Ana and Tiago (sorry for the mediocre portrait!)

Sheep were still resting”. There was time for some more sketches, like this one, an excellent overview from the valley

As ovelhas continuavam a “descansar”.

(…to be continued)
